The resort is already booked for the 2008 Christmas Holidays, and it is advisable to book well in advance for visits in February, March and April, 2009. VillasEach bedroom has a private bath and a very comfortable king sized bed and shares the common living room and kitchen space on the main floor. There is a well maintained private pool off the outdoor veranda of each villa, with plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels always available for your use. Renting a villa is economical if you enjoy traveling with friends, since you can share the weekly fee. A refrigerator that is well stocked with soft drinks, bottled water and beer will keep you refreshed when you choose to spend time in your well appointed room or villa. It is recommended that you drink ONLY bottled water during your visit to the Dominican Republic and that you remember to brush your teeth with bottled water. The rooms and villas are equipped with coffee makers and you should use bottled water for coffee as well! ResortPlaya Cofresi is the location of the Lifestyle Holidays Resort Complex. It is located about five kilometers west of the town of Puerto Plata, and about a thirty minute drive from the airport. The guest rooms, suites and villas are located on a small bluff, with paths winding between pools and restaurants that lead to the golden sand beach. DiningA wonderful variety of cuisine is available within the resort. Your wristband allows you to choose from Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Seafood or Tropical cuisine served buffet style. With reservations made in advance you can dine in the V.I.P Gourmet Restaurant where the food and white gloved service is superb! In addition to these choices there are numerous bars and lounges with cocktails, soft drinks, sandwiches and salads. AttractionsAt the opposite end of Cofresi Beach there is a quality aquatic park, called Ocean World, where families can see trained dolphins, sea lions, tropical birds, and an entertaining shark show. The entrance fee is about 55 US $, which covers your swim through the snorkel reef aquarium, and all the shows. There is an opportunity to swim with dolphins or participate in sea lion, shark or stingray encounters for additional money. A van is available to transport guests to and from Ocean World. For adult evening entertainment Ocean World offers a casino, a lounge and a Las Vegas style musical show. Activities & EntertainmentLifestyle Holidays Resort has an open air amphitheatre where live entertainment can be enjoyed each week. The folklore show has lively dancing and colorful historical depictions with audience participation available (you might even learn to dance the merengue). The costumes and music are great! Your V.I.P. wristband is your ticket to the show.If you are interested in arranging a city tour of Puerto Plata, talk to the bell captain at the main hotel lobby (with the fountain in front). He will make sure you get a reputable taxi driver that is knowledgeable and speaks English. You may wish to see the historic fort, harbor side, and ride the tram up the near-by mountainside for a bird’s eye view of this scenic city. A brief visit to the rum factory and some jewelry and cigar shop time will probably take about two or three hours making this tour informational and memorable. There is an excursion and tour service at the resort near the V.I.P. area that will assist you in arranging fishing, whale watching (late Jan, through mid March), catamaran boat trips, dives and other adventures. If you choose to purchase the whale watching trip prepare for a very long bus ride through rice and coconut plantations as you travel along the scenic north coast of the island. When we went, we got very close to the humpbacks that spend their winter weeks in the waters near Semana Bay. Both of us believed it was an experience of a lifetime! My husband and I recently returned from our first visit to the Dominican Republic where we experienced the warm, friendly service of the Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club. We loved staying in a 3 bedroom villa, with another couple, where we had our own private pool and daily maid service. It is our opinion that the “Crown Villas” offer the best value for groups of 4 or more people, since the “rental” fee can be shared. The king sized beds are very comfortable and the villas are well maintained and squeaky clean. Since these facilities met my picky criteria, I would assume they will meet yours as well. The one and two bedroom units were not as comfortable as the amenities in the villa (other guests complained about the beds, stair access and such), but would suffice if you are planning to spend most of your time at the beach! Because you will be a VIP guest you will have some great advantages at the resort. Your VIP status is designated by the wristband you receive at check-in when you pay the required daily pp all-inclusive fee. The all-inclusive fee for the villas is $47.50 pp per day and $40 pp per day for other resort accommodations. There are reduced daily rates for children. Your transportation must be pre-arranged so it is important to send your travel information to us at least three weeks before your arrival so we can be sure the resort has a driver available to pick you up. When you need to return to the airport, you will need to call the V.I.P. services number a day or two in advance of your departure in order to secure a ride back to the airport. The cost of transportation from and to the Puerto Plata Airport is included in your rental fee. If you choose to tip the driver, it will be much appreciated. Additional ChargesUpon check-in you will be charged a daily “all inclusive” fee. This fee will pay for any food, beverages and non-motorized water sports equipment that you may enjoy during your visit. You will be issued a wrist band that designates you as a V.I.P. guest, which allows you entry to any of the exclusive V.I.P. resort facilities, including the upper beach where you may lounge on the comfy beach beds or in the V.I.P. private pool area where there is wireless internet access. The “all inclusive” fee is 47.50 US$ per adult per day, and half that amount for children aged three through twelve. Change & Cancellation FeesIf it becomes necessary for you to change your original rental dates, you must do so at least 30 days ahead of your originally confirmed arrival. Each time you request a date change there will be an additional $50 charge in order to issue a new rental contract and make the reservation changes with the resort. The rental payment is non-refundable if you do not show up on your originally confirmed arrival date. Reservations When I receive this request form from you, I will contact the resort and begin the confirmation process. Since you will be my guest (I own the vacation club membership), I will need to send the payment that will hold the dates you have requested as soon as possible. When the resort has received my money and confirmed your dates, I will ask you to send the complete payment to me. Remember that your confirmed reservation will include pick up and delivery from the Puerto Plata airport, so you will need to advise me of your arrival and departure dates and times. As a vacation club member, it is my responsibility to make the airport pick up arrangements for you at least three weeks in advance of your arrival. Payment and Rental Agreement Procedure The non-refundable rental fee can be paid by certified check, money order, or through PayPal. After receiving your full payment, you will be sent a rental agreement that needs to be signed, dated and returned to me. I will then sign the rental agreement, make a copy and send your agreement back to you in the mail for your records. If your airline travel arrangements are mid-week instead of weekends, your paid reservation and signed rental agreement will hold your confirmed accommodations…..no problem!
