The Ghurka signature vintage leather is pure vegetable tanned, entirely free of chemicals, utilizing tanning extracts from Mimosa and Quebracho tree bark and a slow and careful tanning process to produce this soft but durable leather. The by-products of this special tanning process for Ghurka leather are actually used as soil additives for growing crops – unheard of in the traditional chemical-laden, high production tanning of most other leather. From the outset, it has been Ghurka’s intent to make the finest leather accessories for men & women in this country and to preserve that high level of craftsmanship in all our products as we grow and add new collections and items that our discriminating customers request.For over two decades Ghurka's master leather craftsmen have been training other workers, some of them under the apprenticeship system similar to that practiced in the great leather centers of Europe.
