SquareTrade © AP6.0 squaretradetravelsealBali ON SALE  (Offer valid until 10/31/2008) Day 1 Arrival transfer (D)          Upon arrival Ngurah Rai Airport of Denpasar, immigration and custom clearance, meet and transfer to CENDANA Hotel, Ubud. After checking into the hotel, free for refreshing dip in the pool. Evening Dinner (buffet) in the hotel's open air restaurant. Day 2 Biking (B,L,D) Bre             Breakfast at the hotel then followed by an immersion into traditional Balinese life with a bike ride through villages and past family temples in the cultural heart of Bali. We start in the fields which surround Tempaksiring (North of Ubud) and head into the verdant rice-terraces and ravines in the direction of Ubud, with Gunung Agung, the island’s most revered volcano, visible to the north. A downhill ride takes us through agricultural settlements and villages to the wood-carving centre of Tegalalang. We break for lunch at a terraced restaurant before heading on the back roads to the monkey forest just on the outskirts of Ubud. Leaving our bikes we have a chance to explore the monkey forest (make sure to protect your cameras!) and Ubud before returning to the hotel for a well-deserved dip in the pool. We then head into town for a nice dinner at the Jazz Café (Mediterranean set menu) in Peliatan. Day 3 Rafting, put on Balinese dress and learn to make temple offering (B,L,D) Afte            After breakfast, we depart for rafting (class II and III) on the Ayung river. Paddling down-river with our excellent local river guides, we enjoy views of waterfalls, dense greenery, and hillside villas. Lunch on the river bank. Back to Ubud to learn about making the very decorative temple “offerings” and table decorations. In the late afternoon we head to the heron sanctuary of Petulu, where thousands of unique white herons return each day to the trees. We learn about the story behind this and the various beliefs in Bali. Return to Ubud for dinner at HINDU’S restaurant (Indonesian set menu) in Tjampuhan. Day 4 Art, culture & nature inter-land village (B,L,D)          Today we explore the area in the north of Ubud. We start with a short walk from the hotel to the Neka Museum where we have a chance to compare various forms of traditional Balinese art. As many of the pieces date to the start of the century, these brilliantly colourful paintings also provide insight into Bali before foreign visitors (and cameras!). After our visit we don our caps and anoint ourselves with sun cream and head off the main road and hike back along the narrow paths through the small villages and agricultural tracts behind Payogan. We hike in rice fields and plantations, under the shadows of large palms and bush, along the beautiful natural carving of coconut trees, always within earshot of the heron or other wild bird sounds. We stop for lunch at Koko’s Klub before continuing on through a narrow ridge of Campuhan with villages and valleys on both sides. We drop down from the ridge to join the tributary of Ubud’s two holy rivers and follow the river to the heart of Ubud. Here we break for some well deserved shopping time and a chance to visit an artist in his painting school and meet some of the students. We then return to the hotel to relax and change. Dinner is at LOTUS Café in Ubud. Day 5 Rice fields trek (B,L,D)          Breakfast at the hotel, then its farewell to Ubud, as we head out to the moat temple of Pura Taman Ayun, the second largest of its kind in Bali, built in 1634. We continue to Tanah Lot, the sacred temple surrounded by sea. After our visit we head north to the small village of Babahan where, after a picnic lunch, we begin a trek through the terraced rice fields and small villages. During our hike we visit the temple at Utu and finish at Jatiluwih with its commanding view. Our vehicles meet us, and take us further north to the cool mountain highlands, where our home for the night is the Saranam Mountain Resort. Located in a magnificent setting overlooking cascading rice terraces this hotel will be our home for one night. Day 6 Jungle trek (B,L,D)                   After early breakfast at the hotel we continue north through Bedugul to Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. After a short stop we head off for a two-hour jungle trek with local guides, providing unique insight into the flora and fauna of Bali. Our walk will take us through primary rain-forest high above the twin lakes of Tamblingan and Buyan, from where we enter the canopied rainforest. The trek passes giant vine-clad trees and majestic ferns, and is followed by lunch at a restaurant. We then head east to the sea shore at Candidasa and our fine beach front resort hotel on the south coast. Dinner and overnight at CANDI BEACH Cottage Day 7 Bali Age Village visit (B,D) After breakfast at the hotel then an excursion to the Bali-aga village of Tenganan to view a traditional settlement of the pre-Hindu Balinese. We return to the hotel. You have plenty of time for all the beach activities....snorkeling, swimming and enjoying the warm, clear water of the East Bali beach resort. Lunch is on one's own We have a special BBQ dinner. Day 8 Departure transfer (B) After a leisurely breakfast we leave by bus heading west for Denpasar and the airport.
